The Truth About Running a Business

The Truth About Running a Business

When developing a business, there are several activities to be scheduled:  client appointments, sales calls, networking events, learning opportunities, mastermind meetings, and many more.  These activities often take time, money and advance planning.  You may sometimes feel las though putting out the extra effort just is not worth it, even if you know that attending an event will make a difference.

I have seen this pattern over and over.

  • I am doing so many other things, I can get away with not attending this event.
  • I will not really get much from it. I never do.
  • I cannot invest that much in myself. I might not get it back.
  • It is too inconvenient to work everything out.

If you are looking for truth in what it takes to run a business, consider this:

  1. It is never a convenient time to work on your business. Do it anyway.
  2. The money that you need for your next important business investment is probably not already sitting in your sock drawer.  Resolve this and make the investment  anyway.
  3. You do not need a positive mindset 100 percent of the time. You do need to take action 100 percent of the time and maintain a positive mindset during as much of that as possible.
  4. It will not happen as fast as you want it to. But if you do #3, rest assured that it will happen.
  5. Very successful people will tell you that most success consists of merely showing up. And showing up again and again.
  6. Believing in yourself and taking action consistent with that belief is the best business strategy you can ever have.

The difference between you having to close down your business and you succeeding beyond  your wildest dreams can be as simple as showing up. Even when it is inconvenient.

  1. Hi Rachel,

A short and sweet message about the truth of running a business. It is so true, you have to show up, be consistent, and never look for that “convenient” time to do it.

Indeed, our mindset is key and it does have to be 100% positive all the time and most importantly believe in your self. There is no excuse about spending money…yes, there probably is some stashed away in the sock drawer lol.

    Fantastic!

  2. Hey Rachel,

Just showing up is a great start to grow your business. A lot of us make excuses before making that move. For me I got tired of making excuses and just started showing up again and again until it started paying off. You start to get into the rhythm of things and this is the fuel that helps to build your success and maintaining it!

Great message here Rachel! Have a great weekend!

  3. Great Message Rachel! I do agree showing up is a Biggy HUH? Thanks for sharing and do have a great weekend ahead.. Chery :))

  4. Short and to the point. I like that. 🙂

I particularly like your #1… “It’s never a convenient time to work on your business. Do it anyway.” That’s ALWAYS a great motto for me!

  5. Now isn’t that an inconvenient truth Rachel!

I guess if the road to success is paved with hard work, then for sure, the road to eventual failure
    is paved with excuses!LOL!

And it’s always far easier to take consistent action, when you believe strongly in yourself!

  6. Hi, Rachel,
This post is up to the point and easy to understand, We give excuses for every action, we think no this is not the time and all this leads to unsuccessful business.
I think we have to start accepting the things , we should honestly give time for particular action , we should not see comfortableness, at initial stages we have to work hard yet smart.
All the 6 points are really useful and must follow in business

Thanks for sharing this with us
