Decide to Sprout Your Business

Decide to Sprout Your Business

"To get new results, you must take new actions and all actions are fathered by a decision" ~ Tony Robbins

Make a Committed Decision

The first step we need to take to construct a booming business is to make a decision to do so!  I see many entrepreneurs jumping into the profession with an immediate focus on how to get clients, how to make money and how to market before they have fully committed to having a flourishing business to begin with.

A Definition of Decide

decide-to-grow-your-businessThe word decision is derived from the Latin root decidere, which means to cut off from. By making a decision, we are cutting off all other possibility. According to the definition, if we make a decision to succeed as a business owner, it means that we are cutting off the very possibility of not succeeding.  Isn’t that powerful?  This is the type of committed decision we have to make about our business.

Unfortunately, plenty of entrepreneurs are “trying” to grow their business; however, they have not made a committed decision to succeed as a businesswoman. They are feeling things out, seeing what happens, hoping to attract clients.  These are not statements of real commitment or determination.  I hope that you do not allow this to happen to you. The first step to go from “trying” to “succeeding” is a decision.

My Journey

I decided to do whatever it takes to build a winning business and make a meaningful impression upon the world.  I am committing my greatest effort to build a successful business once and for all, by treating my business with the priority and importance it deserves.  I also honor my commitments to myself to do what it takes to succeed.

Was it difficult?  Heck, yes.  It still is oftentimes. I did not  know how to successfully launch and grow a small business, even though I thought that having a MBA with an emphasis in Entrepreneurship would make it easy peasy.  You name it, I tried it.  Audio, video, teleseminars, webinars, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, workshops, landing pages, opt-in boxes, autoresponders, special offers, informational products.  My head was spinning!  Through trial and error, a ton of hard work and tears, I am now growing a large contact list and my business is profitable.

Your Journey

I  provide the women on my email list with simple activities to help them launch and grow their business one step at a time.  These steps save them tons of time, money and frustration.  If you would like that too, jump onto the email list and start working in your business with purpose and intention rather than overwhelm and pandemonium. Simply send a blank email to wfyh101@aweber.com.

What powerful decision can you make today that inspires and motivates you?  Remember, this is a critical piece of the foundation upon which your booming business is built.

    • I totally agree with you Renee.  It really is the best choice I ever made, even though the business totally owned me the first 1.5 years (and still does occasionally).

      Have a wonderful weekend!

  2. Rachel, I’m stopping by from UBC and I want to tell you that I love this post. I can resonate with you on so many levels. I too have tried webinars, training packages, free ebooks, special offers etc and it really does make your head spin. The most powerful thing I love about this post is that you fully embrace the importance of decision making in creating a successful business. When I first started my coaching business, my motto was “Raise Your Standards & Make the Decision to Change Your Life”. I still use that to this day because I find it simplistic yet powerful in transforming any area of our lives. Thank you so much for this amazing post.

  5. Commitment is definitely key. It’s easy for people to say, “I decided…,” but if we have a bunch of commas, qualifying phrases, or other distractors, we often haven’t hit it yet. I usually know something is going to happen by how short the sentence is – the shorter, the more definitive. It’s a soundbite…a motto that will bring me back on point. I see that in clients and in myself. There’s a new level of resolve when that happens.

  6. I don’t have an online business, but I know that what I need for my blog right now is to be committed to it. Eventually I wouldn’t mind if it made some money, but for right now I’m just enjoying developing it which does take a certain amount of commitment. 🙂

I think I was just playing at trying to make money online to begin with. I did not have the confidence to make the decision to commit to make a success of it. After learning more I became determined, although some failures did affect my confidence. I was committed by this stage so it was back to the drawing board to work out where I was going wrong and to decide on a direction. I have now worked out where my interests are and where to focus my time and effort.

However much training you do, success does not come overnight. It takes a while to build a brand a network of contacts, email lists and establish your own place in the equation. You need to work through the maze of tools, resources, advertising portals etc to find which works for you.

    • Hi Sue,

Isn’t it interesting how people start a business wanting to earn extra income and then give up quickly–often within the first 90 days? Who has ever started a job or gone into a new profession without training? Who goes purchases a kit to be an attorney or a physician? No one! We need specialized knowledge to enter those professions.

  8. Very nice post Rachel – and I love your page! Looks fresh and inviting. Easy to read.

I recently read that it’s not a decision until action is taken! Your post reminds me of that quote. You can’t just “try” to make a change – you must decide to make the change, and then change! Powerful stuff!!!
