Content Marketing Strategies for More Clients

Content Marketing Strategies for More Clients

There are probably thousands of people needing the solutions that you provide. It is your responsibility to make sure that they receive your information in a way that will produce the greatest results in the least amount of time. You can use content marketing to create lasting relationships with your target market. Following are just five ways to use content marketing to obtain more clients now:

1.  Live Events

When buyers have a chance to connect with you face-to-face, you can build that "know-like-trust" factor very quickly/  The event also gives you the opportunity to extend an invitation to the audience to continue working with you directly to learn even more. To host your own live event, decide upon a topic, a date and a marketing plan to invite your audience.

2.  Webinars

An online presentation where you share your expertise offers most of the same benefits as a live event. The major difference is that it is more convenient for your audience to participate. Your content formula is:

  • Highlight an obstacle

  • Offer a remedy

  • Invite the audience to work with you further to implement the solution

3.  Branded Gizmos

Most of the people who visit your website will not be whipping out their credit card or telephone you on their first visit. They need to get to know you first and feel confident that you have the remedy they need. In order for you to develop that trusting relationship, obtain their contact information stay in touch with them.

Offering a branded gizmo allows you to showcase your expertise, create value for your site visitors and ethically bribe them to provide their name and email address.  You will use this information to stay in touch and extend an offer to help them solve those pressing problems facing them.

4.  Email Newsletters

An email newsletter is a great stay-in-touch tool to use for building credibility, trust and generate leads. Some of the elements to consider including that will turn your readers into buyers are:

  • Useful information:  A profitable tip of the week which includes education and "how to" implementation steps.

  • A call to action:  An invitation to apply for a private session providing the reader with an opportunity to work with you for a small investment to receive a remedy to a specific problem.

  • Social proof:  A testimonial from a satisfied client.

5.  Videos

Most people are visual learners; therefore, tell a story or show your buyer how to solve a problem in a video.  If done properly, your videos will be more memorable and engaging than any text thatyou can write.  You do not need a professional sound stage to create great video. You will be find with a script, a camera (try using your smartphone) and a location to host the video (we love Vimeo and YouTube).  Whichever format you select, make sure you:

  • Speak to just ONE person.  Do not address your audience as a group.

  • Use clear, simple language.  No industry jargon should be uttered from your mouth.

  • Keep your call to action simple.  Only invite your audience to take one EASY action.

  • Have a follow-up plan in place.  "One and done" just is not going to cut it.

  • Create your content consistently.  You must commit to your plan and stick with it for the best results.

If you want more clients, you need to upgrade your content marketing strategy. Please select ONE of the above ideas and schedule a block of time on your calendar to implement the idea within the next week.

YOUR ACTION PLAN:

  • Choose one content strategy that you know your audience will appreciate.

  • Create a plan for implementing that strategy to help your audience solve a specific remedy.

  • Put a follow-up plan in place to keep your audience engaged.

  • Be consistent! Stick with your content marketing plan until it is fully completed.

  1. You know, it’s funny, Rachel, books are still sold the old-fashioned way. While once you’re a bestselling author, any marketing works pretty well. But on the road to there, book signings are still the way to go–face to face. I remember long, long ago a mentor of mine (and multi-published author) said, “You’re not selling your book. You’re selling yourself.” I’ve always remembered that.

  2. This could not be more timely and appropriate as I am in the process of re-branding my offerings. Thank you, Rachel!

  3. These tips are great for businesses Rachel. I have friends who use video to showcase their stock and it’s fun and informative. As a writer, I’m more interested in sharing my written word than my spoken word, but I can see where your tips could have benefits for me as well.

  4. Hi Rachel. Thanks for the advice. I’ve been toying with a number of these ideas lately (besides the “newsletter” that I already do.) Not sure I am quite ready to jump in there but I definitely appreciate the encouragement. ~Kathy

  5. There are many times that I will buy a product just because of the video. It makes it easier to see how I would use the product. For example, we bought an expresso press just because of its video. It’s really neat and all you need is to pour the boiling water through the press of expresso ground coffee and there you have it, Expresso for one or two. Fun.

  6. Hi Rachel,

You hit so many important points in your article!

I think the most important one you touched upon in the videos was “speak to one person.” I teach that specificity is the key to success. Talk to one person, who has one problem / need / want / desire and offer them a solution.

Even still, relevancy is the key and it’s the one area that so many businesses struggle with.

Thanks so much for sharing your insights Rachel!!!

    • Hi Don,

Now, if I would just remember that I need to write to just one person myself 😉  I was reviewing some copy for a course I’m creating with my coach last week and she gave me a suggestion to help me remember:  Start the content with “Dear Jane”.  Simply, but it really worked.

Thanks for visiting my blog and have a fabulous week!
