Your Business Will Fail Without This

Your Business Will Fail Without This

One of the most important aspects of having a booming online business is being clear on why you want it.

And it is NOT about the money.

Businesses without a strong why often go up in smoke because there is nothing to pull the entrepreneur forward and motivate her on a consistent basis.  What fuels your passion and commitment?  Your why might be so that you can live with full-blown freedom.  Or your why may be because achieving a certain income level would allow you to impact the world in a big way via philanthropic deeds.

Identify the reasons why you are growing your online business (other than monetary).  Make a list of these reasons and keep them in a place where you can periodically return to it. There will come a time when you will doubt whether growing an online business is a good idea.  A great way to keep going in tough times is
to go back and revisit the reasons why you decided to go down this path to begin with.

  1. Sounds like good advise to me.

  2. I believe that money is one of the reasons why people run an online business, but there are many other reasons and motivations as well.

  3. Hi Rachel…. the BIG why is always so important….

Hi Rachel, excellent post and advice. You must always have your WHY and it shouldn’t always be about the money. Helping others is a great way to start.

  6. This is a great way to keep in mind that you start down this way of living. There is no end yet being focused on what your core passion is and how to make just sharing that passion generate resources of revenue to fund all your needs and business projects.

A strong foundation being built first after you have created an Operational Budget is the first step. During which time you will have found what you core passion is and what fuels you to wake-up excited each day. If you love what your doing there will be no end to the great adventures each day will be for you and those you share your passion with. The rest will come.

Thank you for giving us this topic to interact. You seem to always share usable information with us during all these years and I do appreciate it so much.

    Hi Rachel,
you are providing great questions and food for thought.
Yes, we do need our why, especially when things don’t flow easily.
One thing I have done a few times is ask myself what the feeling is I would succeed, and then what the feeling is underneath that.
Thank you for sharing this food for thought!
    Love and Light!

  8. I think your picture quote really summed it up Rachel
” There will come a time when you will question your decision to become an Entrepreneur …. and remembering your WHY is the only thing that will pull you through”
The road can be tough … and it’s the inner strength that will overcome the doubt.
    Thanks for the reminder 🙂

  9. I wrote about my “why” and it was very revealing. Things I thought was the why, really wasn’t. So it’s good to write things down, probe, explore, then move in the direction that’s right and a match

  10. Hello Rachel!, I love yur suggestion of writing out your why! very good advice and one I am going to implement as well as to teach my team to do, this makes sense. Thanks so much for sharing Chery :))

  11. Hello Mrs Lavern,

I think there is nothing more important than this: “your why”. Also, for millions of people, there is nothing more difficult than this: finding your why.

Many people believe that your “why” must be a huge vision, something that will revolutionize the world, a message that will touch the lives of millions.

Most people who start online don’t have this kind of vision and they will never have it. They simply don’t want to change the whole world.

Other people understand that “your why” can be a simple idea, something that can help some people and make their lives a little, little, little bit better.

Even this type of idea can be difficult for many. So there are people who say: “I want to make money.” Then, they choose their why like you said: freedom, philantropy etc.

I think “freedom and the possibility to help some people” is a very good why. When you don’t have a vision or a message to the world, choose this “why” and it will be enough.

There are two types of “why”: “the why” for me (what I want for me) and “the why” for others (what I want for others). I think both “why”s must be in place when you start. Unfortunately this doesn’t happen. Few people have their “why” even from the beginning. In this case, the only thing you can do is to start, learn and hope, in time, you will find your “why”.

    Have a wonderful “why”

Yes indeed! We must have a strong WHY! If your why doesn’t make you cry, you probably have the wrong why!
